Global Expansion Part II

Not much news today, so I want to run something by all of you. As some of you know, Red Ranter and I have been engaged in a fairly academic discussion over the proposed 39th game and all it’s potential meanings. I came to the conclusion that there is a void to be filled.

I am curious as to what my readers think. The following is an edited version of one of my posts to him in our discussion over The Global Expansion. Give it a read, if you have the time, and let me know what you think. I know that my argument must be filled with holes, I just wonder what you think they are.

The Global Expansion

I could be wrong, but I kind of felt like my friend Red Ranter over at Red Rants took a shot at me this morning. I know that other people have made arguments similar to the one I made yesterday, but the language he used was so eerily similar to mine that it made me feel as though he was addressing my post. Perhaps I’m paranoid, but I felt the need to address his post regardless.

In Remembrance of the Munich Air Disaster - February 6, 1958

I have had some misgivings about writing the past couple days. I am admittedly late in becoming a Manchester United supporter. Football isn’t readily available in America, so my exposure early on was minimal. There are somethings about Manchester United that I will never fully understand. There are some times in our history that can not be fully captured in print. February 6, 1958 is one of those times.

There was little printed this week that was not touched by the remembrance of the Munich Air Disaster. Discussing the Disaster seemed inappropriate and mentioning anything else seemed insignificant. 23 people died that day, eight of them Manchester United players. A team destined for greatness had its promise taken from it in an instant. I didn’t even know about it until a couple of years ago. How could I, of all people, eulogize those men?
